Divorce and family law issues are never easy.  At Barry Satlow, P.C., I help clients deal with marital dissolution through “collaborative divorce law.”  This type of divorce involves working together to come to a mutually agreeable solution.  It is a much friendlier approach to divorce proceedings that is often much easier on the children and the family as a whole.

In divorce proceedings, I work to find creative ways to increase the “pot,” or assets to be divided between the parties, in addition to remaining aware of the tax consequences and the effect the proceedings have on the children.  The goal in any divorce is to make the process as painless as possible, and come up with a solution that still allows both parents to attend school plays and high school graduations.  I can help deal with all aspects of divorce, including alimony, child support, child custody and visitation, and property division.  Apart from divorce, I can also assist with adoptions and prenuptial agreements.

Bankruptcy

Many people are embarrassed when they are in financial trouble, and may view bankruptcy as a last, shameful resort.  What many people don’t know is that filing bankruptcy can be the smartest idea in a situation where you are in over your head in credit card debt, mortgages, and other debts; when bill collectors are threatening foreclosure and repossession.  Bankruptcy is nothing to be ashamed of.  It offers a fresh start, with a clean financial slate.

I am a very experienced, competent bankruptcy attorney that has helped many individuals through difficult financial times.  I work with the client to minimize what the client has to give up, and maximize the debts that are contained within the bankruptcy agreement in a Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  I have been practicing bankruptcy for years, and serve as co-chair of the Boulder County Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section.

Personal Injury

Personal injury cases range from whiplash to wrongful death suits, and arise when an individual is injured by the negligence of another person.  I handle the whole gamut of personal injury cases, from auto accidents, to bicycle and pedestrian accidents, to defective products.  If you have been injured, I will work to recover the money you deserve from the parties that caused the harm.
